Sometimes a simple monochrome laser printer is not enough. Some buyers want to replace multiple machines in the office with a single energy-efficient device. That is the aim of the HP LaserJet M2727nf. It is a multifunction device that can print, scan, copy and fax. It comes at a low price and the affordability of HP M2727nf toner makes it easy on the budget.

Speed is always a major factor with any office machine, as users don’t want to be slowed down or kept waiting. The print and copy speed is up to 27 pages per minute for very solid performance. The unit includes 64 MB of RAM for handling large print jobs or graphics-intensive tasks. Its size is a little on the bulky side for its class. The unit measures 18 inches by 19.7 inches by 16 inches and weighs 37.9 pounds.

The multifunction features are very well-designed and integrate well together. Up to 99 copies can be made at once, and it supports reduction and enlargement from 25 to 400 percent. Printing and copying both support 2-up and 4-up prints, which can put multiple pages on a single page for archiving or saving paper costs.

Faxing supports up to 120 entries for quick dialing, and there are 16 quick-dial entries available, accessible from one-touch buttons. Other features include delayed fax, forward faxing and secure mode, which requires a password to protect sensitive faxes.

Although the price of the HP M2727nf is a bit higher than many models in its class, it makes up for it with the low price of LaserJet M2727nf toner cartridges. HP M2727nf toner is very affordable, making overall operating costs lower than many competing units and making it a better value in the long term.

Home or small office users who need a robust, fast and reliable multifunction device will find the HP LaserJet M2727nf to be an excellent choice.

With a large paper capacity and automatic duplexing included, the HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn is a monochrome laser printer that is ready for a busy small office environment. Its print quality is very sharp, and its print speeds are fast, at up to 26 pages per minute, and it has an impressive first page out time as fast as 7 seconds. LaserJet Pro P1606dn toner prices won’t break the bank.

For a small office model, the machine has a very roomy paper capacity of 250 sheets. This keeps users from having to refill paper often. The printer can handle paper sizes from 3×5 inches to 8.5×14 inches, for a lot of flexibility. It has a monthly duty cycle of up to 8,000 pages per month, so it is ready to handle a high printing volume. It also includes a built-in Ethernet networking port for quickly and easily sharing it among multiple computers. The automatic duplexing feature helps conserve paper by printing on both sides automatically when enabled. Combining two-sided printing with the included toner saver feature can result in a great savings that makes it easy on the budget.

HP P1606dn toner cartridges are affordably-priced and very easy to find in stores and online. LaserJet Pro P1606dn toner cartridges have a large capacity, which means they won’t have to be replaced often. Since printer toner is a major part of the ongoing cost of any model, this is an important point.

In their review of the HP P1606dn laser printer, PC Magazine praised the low cost of toners, and its fast speeds and excellent text quality. They disliked its graphics quality, and thought photos suffered as well, but since the majority of users will be printing primarily text, they found this less of an issue.

Overall, the HP P1606dn has a lot of speed and sharp text quality to offer at an affordable price. The low cost of HP P1606dn toner is also icing on the cake.

The HP LaserJet Pro P1102w is a personal monochrome laser designed for the home or small office environment. It fits a lot of great functionality into a small design and has excellent print speeds at up to 18 pages per minute. LaserJet Pro P1102w toner is very inexpensive, for economical printing.

The unit connects to a single computer via USB, or it can be shared using WiFi, as it supports both 802.11b and 802.11g standards. While this is a nice bonus feature, sharing it among too many users is not recommended, as its 150-sheet paper capacity and up to 5,000 sheet monthly duty cycle is not designed for heavy use by a large office. Still, for sharing among a small office of computers, it should do quite well. The printer supports all modern versions of Windows, Mac OS X and even many distributions of Linux, for great cross-platform compatibility.

HP P1102w toner is inexpensive and toners are easy to find in both retail stores and online. LaserJet Pro P1102w toner cartridges have a capacity of 1,600 pages, and the combination of large capacity and low price give it a very low cost per page. Printer toner costs are a large part of any printer’s expense, so the low cost of HP P1102w toner cartridges will save money now and in the future.

In their review of the HP P1102w laser printer, PC Magazine gave it a rating of 3.5 out of 5. They praised its compact size and affordable price, as well as its fast speeds and excellent print quality. They also liked the addition of WiFi. They disliked its small paper capacity and thought its cost per page could be better.

Overall, the HP LaserJet Pro P1102w is an impressive machine that will serve the needs of a small office quite well. With fast speeds, excellent print quality and affordable toners, it is definitely a model to consider.

The HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf is a monochrome multifunction laser printer designed for the small office or home environment. It can print, scan, fax and copy and has impressive printing speeds of up to 19 pages per minute. LaserJet Pro M1212nf toner costs are low, saving offices money each time they replace printer toner.

While it’s not the most compact machine on the block, it has a fairly small footprint, measuring 12 inches by 17.1 inches by 10.4 inches and weighing 18.3 pounds. The unit includes 64 MB of memory, allowing it to handle graphics-intensive prints easily. Although it is limited to 600 dpi, HP’s FastRes 1200 technology simulates printing at 1200 dpi for sharper prints. Copying supports reduction and enlargement from 25% to 400% and up to 99 copies can be made at once. Faxing transmission speeds are fast, at up to 33.6 kbps, and the unit can also slow down transmission to accommodate slower machines. There is a 35-sheet automatic document feeder for quickly scanning, faxing or copying multiple pages at once for efficient operation, and it can handle pages up to legal size.

HP M1212nf toner is very affordable. LaserJet Pro toner cartridges have a capacity of 1,600 pages, for a very low cost per page. Toners are easy to access and replace.

In their review of the HP M1212nf, Computer Shopper rated it 7.9 out of 10. They liked its fast speeds, its OCR capability, and its excellent print quality. The disliked its lack of WiFi and automatic duplexing, and thought its cost per page could have been better.

Overall, the HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf is a good buy for a small office. Its low upfront price and the low price of HP M1212nf toner cartridges make it very economical all around. With a lot of features in a compact and affordable machine, the M1212nf is a great value.

The HP LaserJet P2055 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the small or medium office environment. It has the capacity and speed to handle a high volume of printing, with excellent print quality.

While small offices tend to look for the most inexpensive printer that will get the job done, larger offices with high-volume needs have to look for a printer that can handle the large amount of printing they need to do. The HP P2055 is built for a high-volume environment. It has a 50,000 page monthly duty cycle, and numerous configuration options to meet different needs. “N” models of the printer have ethernet networking built-in, while “D” models have automatic duplexing (two-sided printing).

Paper capacity is a little small for its intended use, but it has expandability options as well. Initial paper capacity is 300 sheets, with 250 sheets in the main drawer, and 50 sheets in the multipurpose tray. Paper capacity can be expanded to a maximum of 800 sheets, and high-volume users will almost definitely need to make that upgrade.

HP LaserJet P2055 toner cartridges have a capacity of 2,300 pages in the standard size. High-yield HP P2055 toner cartridges are available, with a capacity of 6,500 pages. This results in a lower cost per page, and can save a significant amount of money over the lifetime of the printer. High-volume users will likely want to use third-party compatible HP P2055 toner cartridges instead of the more expensive branded toner cartridges, as they are much more affordable. Print quality is excellent. Text is sharp and detailed, with readable characters even at small font sizes. Graphics quality is quite good, and a little above average for a laser printer.

Overall, the HP LaserJet P2055 is an excellent printer, but its price keeps its appeal limited to those who need its high-volume design. Small office users can save money by going with less expensive models.

The HP LaserJet P1005 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the home or small office user. It features solid printing speeds and great quality in a sleek design at an affordable price.

The design of the P1005 has a lot of aesthetic appeal. It borrows its look from HP’s consumer printers, with rounded edges and lighter colors, giving it a very modern look. The printer connects via USB 2.0. No ethernet port is included, though the printer can be shared using either a print server or a host computer. Input paper capacity is 150 sheets in a single tray. The printer measures 7.64 inches by 13.66 inches by 12 inches (HWD), for a very compact size and a small footprint. The printer will certainly fit into tight spaces.

Although it is designed to be a personal printer, the P1005 has some decent power under its hood. It includes a 266 MHz processor and 2 MB of memory for processing print jobs, allowing it to rely less on the host computer for processing and speeding up printing. HP LaserJet P1005 Toner cartridges have a capacity of 1,500 pages each. There are no high-yield LaserJet P1005 toner cartridges available for more capacity, but compatible cartridges are available from third-party resellers for less money than OEM cartridges, for less money and less per-page costs.

The HP P1005 also includes many energy-saving features, which can help reduce running costs. The printer has a PowerSave mode which reduces power, but keeps the printer ready to power up. Combined with its Instant-On technology, it has low power usage without sacrificing responsive printing speed.

Print speed is around 15 pages per minute, quite good for a personal laser. Print quality is excellent. Text is particularly sharp, due to its 600 dpi printing engine. Graphics quality is about average for a laser.

Overall, the HP LaserJet P1005 is a well-designed, compact printer with great speed and print quality. Its aesthetics are top-notch, and its energy-saving features will save users money in the long run.

The HP LaserJet P2015 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the small office or home office user. It features good quality prints and decent speeds, but competing products offer more features and better quality for less money.

The design of the P2015 is a little too boxy to be considered appealing. Its gray and black exterior and top-heavy design make it look a little awkward, though most users don’t care much about the aesthetics of their laser printer. The printer is fairly compact and lightweight. It measures 10.1 inches by 13.8 inches by 14.3 inches (HWD) and weighs only 24 pounds. The unit has a small footprint and is pretty easy to move for one or two people when necessary. Since the input tray is internal and the output tray is on top, these measurements represent its full footprint, though you will have to leave space in the front for access to the tray.

The input tray holds 250 sheets, and the multipurpose tray can hold up to 50 sheets, depending on the media type and size. There is also a straight pass-through option for longer or thicker media that can not easily be fed into the multipurpose tray. Toner capacities are generous. The standard HP P2015 toner cartridge has a capacity of 3,000 pages, while the high-capacity cartridge will last for 7,000 pages. The high-capacity cartridge is the most economical option, and works out to around 2 cents per page in ink costs.

Print quality is excellent, with sharp and defined text, which keeps its clarity even down to very small font sizes. Print speed is decent, at around 22 pages per minute. Unfortunately, competing models offer more features, better print quality, and even faster speeds for the same price or less, making the HP P2015 a difficult printer to recommend.

Overall, the HP LaserJet P2015 is a well-designed printer that does its job well. Competing products offer more for the money, however, and the P2015 just falls behind its competition.

The HP LaserJet 1022 is a monochrome laser printer designed for the personal or small office user. It has good design aesthetics and good speed and print quality, but has some flaws as well.

The LaserJet 1022 has a good-looking design, with a two-tone color scheme, it stands out a little more than the average laser printer, and its rounded edges give it a more pleasing look as well. Its good design is not limited to looks, however. The input tray is located at the bottom, and though it adds to the footprint somewhat, this allows the output tray to be at the top of the unit, making it easier to grab prints and run. This design scheme does come at a cost, however, as it means that the printer does not have a straight printing path. In other words, the media has to bend its way through the printer, making paper jams and other feeding problems more likely.

As the HP 1022 is designed to be a personal printer primarily, it does not include duplexing or ethernet in the base unit. The printer can still be shared among multiple network users without an ethernet port, but it must rely on a print server or a PC to do the sharing. Users who need to share across a network may wish to look at other printers from HP and other manufacturers, as even with the ethernet port, the HP 1022 offers a limited feature set and does not include some useful sharing features like a built-in web interface that so many competing products now include.

The 1022’s other major flaw is noise. The unit tends to be overly noisy compared to its competition, and even compared to similar models from HP. While this would not be an unforgivable flaw in a medium or large office unit, this becomes more of an issue for a personal printer, which will likely sit on a desk in close proximity to the user.

Overall, the HP LaserJet 1022 provides good speed and print quality, but is marred by noisy operation and a lack of features prevalent in competing models. Personal users may find the quality outweighs its flaws, assuming it is placed far enough away.

The HP LaserJet P3005dn is a fast monochrome laser printer with low per-page costs that will fit in well in any small or medium office environment. Its high upfront price may make it less appealing than less expensive competing models.

The P3005dn has a fairly plain-looking design, but its size and weight are average for its class, and it’s relatively square shape will make it an easy fit for most environments. The printer includes a duplexer for two sided printing, allowing users to save on paper costs. It also includes an ethernet network port for easily sharing the printer across a network of computers. A 500-sheet paper tray and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray are also included.

The major downside of the P3005dn may be its price. Priced at around $900, it is more expensive than most of its competition, though many of the competing printers have more expensive per-page costs, resulting in more money spent over the long run. The P3005dn includes a 6,500 page toner cartridge which can be replaced with a high-yield cartridge with a capacity of 13,000 pages. When using the high-capacity cartridge, per-page costs come to around 1.65 cents per page. This is quite a bit lower than its competition, and can add up to real savings in high-volume printing environments.

Print quality is excellent, with sharp and dark text, and good graphics printing quality. Print speed is quite fast, at around 23 pages per minute for text and 21 pages per minute for graphics.

Overall, the LaserJet P3005dn is a solid workhorse printer that will get the job done quickly and with good quality. Although the initial price is higher than the competition, the unit makes up for it with lower operating costs. Smaller offices with low-volume needs may want to calculate whether they will make up the higher upfront costs.
