HP Color LaserJet CP1518NI

The HP LaserJet CP1518NI is an affordably priced color laser printer designed for the small or home office user. Affordability and a compact size are its main draws, but slow speeds and small capacity put it below some of its competition.
The HP CP1518NI has great print quality. Text is dark and sharp, even at small fonts. Graphic and photo quality is about average for a laser printer. Print speeds are quite slow, at around 11 pages per minute; it falls well behind much of its competition. Graphics printing is even slower at around 2 pages per minute. Small office or personal users might find these speeds adequate for their needs, but with competing products offering faster speeds, it becomes a major hurdle for this printer.
Capacity is another of the HP CP1518NI’s shortcomings. Paper capacity is only 150 sheets, meaning users will be replenishing paper often. Toner capacity is small as well. The print cartridges have a capacity of 2200 pages for black and 1400 pages for color cartridges. The included “starter” cartridges have a capacity of only 750 pages for color. Though this is a cost-cutting measure, this will be quite a disappointment to most buyers. Toner costs are somewhat high as well, working out to about 3.2 cents per page for black and 4.6 cents per page for color.
Overall, the HP Color LaserJet CP1518NI is a good printer with excellent print quality. It is marred by low capacities and slow speeds.

Most offices can do with slow printing speeds. Most printers do not really achieve what’s indicated on the specs on this one. Maybe we can surmised that the specs were arrived in very ideal condition and application.
