HP Color LaserJet 2600
By JimC • Dec 4th, 2008 • Category: HP Color Printer ReviewsThe HP Color LaserJet 2600, as I have read, has some mixed reviews. We run a home office and use a few PC’s and a Mac. Our printing demands encompass business cards, forms, brochures and spread sheets and equates to a few hundred pages per month. I like that fact that this printer is inexpensive, and we found ours for about $299.00. The print speeds are not super fast as with higher end and high volume printers but this printer is not designed for that. It is a small easy to use color laser printer for a home office or very small office.
We opted for the additional paper tray to support our printing needs and it was a bit expensive at $150.00 but necessary for our needs. Changing the toner cartridges was simple; pull down the hinged door and remove them via handles, a very nice touch. The text documents we print are pristine and are worth every penny. We don’t print many photos but when we do there is some “smearing” or faded areas of the image, this is also true for gray graphics. The print speeds are fine for our uses as we only print four or five pages at a time, but could be problematic for larger offices.
There is a web based features control that can be used to tweak the printer for other applications, although I have not taken the time to use it yet. Depending on where you purchase the toner cartridges they can be a little expensive, but deliver good print quality for our needs; although the cartridges need to be changed all at the same time. We intend on replacing the current toners with high capacity cartridges in the future to lower our costs. I would recommend the HP Color LaserJet printer to any small or home office.

I had to disconnect my 2600 printer from my computer the other day. When reconnected, there is now a loud whistling noise made by the printer. It still prints, but the noise is very annoying. Any idea what could cause this?
