The world is much more complicated than ever before. Global Warming is on the rise and “GREEN” standards have taken the lead in every industry. Landfills are growing in size and the demands of recycling are getting stricter. Many have thought of this change in a negative way, misunderstanding the increased convenience that comes with recycling more often.

Hundreds of companies, such as HP, recycle toner cartridges for customers and offer a flat rate per donated cartridge. Not only have businesses in the toner industry developed this service, but there have also been an increase of companies that are completely dedicated to the cause of recycling. Everyone can agree that recycling cartridges that have contributed so much to landfills is an incredible way of maintaining a cleaner planet.

Recycling ink and toner cartridges does more for the environment than most people are aware of. Currently only about 6% of empty printer cartridges are recycled, leaving over 90% of them to be dumped into landfills each year. Thinking “GREEN” also prevents the need for massive amounts of oil to be purchased in order to produce new cartridges. At least 300 cartridges a year are used by schools alone, and with the plastic that is being used to develop them, it can take almost 1000 years for them to fully decompose in nature.

As long is the trend of recycling used ink cartridges maintains its rise in popularity, lower taxes can be a possibility. Thousands of tax dollars can be saved through community cooperation and recycling. You pay taxes on the landfill, and the best way to pay less is to contribute to the cause for a “GREENER” planet. Not only do the benefits show through the environment, but extra money will be in your pocket for every toner cartridge that gets recycled.
